- Help – I've never placed a bet before.
Don’t panic, it’s easy. First, review your racecard and choose your horse. Next, choose your style of betting. You can bet with a bookmaker where you will be offered fixed odds (the likelihood of your horse winning) or place a bet with the tote, where your money will be added to their country-wide pool and you will receive a proportionate cut if you win. The ‘longer’ the odds (where the difference between the first and second numbers is greater, eg 100/1 rather than 7/4) the less chance the bookmakers think the horse has of winning the race – but the more you will take home if it does. Favourites will have ‘shorter’ odds (where the difference between the first and second numbers is smaller, eg 2/1) and show the bookmakers think the horse has a greater chance of winning the race. If you like the horse, but are not confident of the win, go ‘each way’. This means you will win if your horse is ‘placed’ (placings vary per race, depending on the number of horses competing - check before you place your bet). Choose your best viewing position, get ready, and cheer like mad. After the race, collect your winnings (!) and celebrate in style…
- What are the eating and drinking facilities?
There is a huge range of catering options at Kempton Park. The Panoramic Bar and Restaurant has one of the finest views of any racecourse. With our caterers, the dining can only be described as superb. We can cater for groups of up to 150, private or networking, all with fantastic views and access to Europe’s premier floodlit racecourse. Call 01372 477747 or email email@example.com for bookings and enquiries. Food on the hoof? There is a huge range of fast food in the ground floor of the Grandstand. You can choose from fish and chips, curry, pies and pizza. Thirsty work? All areas have bars serving a wide range of alcoholic and soft drinks. The bars open at the same time as the gates and stay open for half an hour after racing.
- What happens after the races?
It’s not just about racing – we want you to have a memorable experience and aim to keep you entertained long after the horseboxes have departed. After racing on our themed nights there is often live music and for all fixtures the bars stay open for half an hour after racing.
- Is there free car parking?
Yes. Free parking is available on all of our racedays. The main car park is subject to a £5 parking fee on all Jump fixtures and feature days. During the 32Red Winter Festival, parking fees apply. Please check our Directions & Parking page for more info.
- Do you offer concessions?
Yes. Under 18s accompanied by an adult are admitted free on the majority of our fixtures, some may be excluded. One adult may accompany a maximum of two children. Students can visit the Race Pass website to recieve a discount, however these must be booked in advance of the raceday. Senior citizens are entitled to a £5 discount at the gate with valid ID, excluding the 32Red Winter Festival. Please note: concessions & discounts do not apply during the 32Red Winter Festival on the 26 & 27 December.
- Are there group discounts?
Unlike other racecourses, we offer a generous 20% discount on all pre-booked tickets. Being so close to London, we’re popular with hen and stag parties wishing to travel into the city after racing. All are welcome. Call 0344 579 3008 for information or bookings. Please note: concessions & discounts do not apply to the 32Red Winter Festival on the 26 & 27 December.
- Can I book in advance?
Yes, we recommend you book in advance as it reduces waiting times at the gate, allows you to take advantage of any special packages tailored for pre-bookers and saves you money. Bookings can be made up to midnight the night before a raceday. Tickets will be dispatched by post for all bookings received up to five days before racing; all others will be available for collection on arrival. Call 0344 579 3008 to book tickets. A fee applies to all ticket bookings.
